By default, the customer will pay for the Gipht order when they complete checkout and will receive a refund if the gift is declined or expires. For a multi-recipient order, the sender is refunded for all recipients that did not accept.
The Gipht app has a Deferred Payments option where the customer will not be charged until the Gipht order is accepted by the recipient. If the recipient ignores or declines the gift, the sender is never charged. For a multi-recipient order, the sender is only charged for the recipients that accepted. The deferred payment model is similar to a try-before-you-buy model and may be more attractive to potential customers, the gift senders.
To enable Deferred Payments, navigate to the Gipht app settings in your Shopify admin, and locate the “Deferred Payments” section. Simply check the box, and the Deferred Payments option is enabled.
With this setting enabled, senders will see a notice on the Gipht checkout page about how this works:
And at the final checkout page, it will show $0 due, as they will be charged once the gift it accepted.
